Took this this morning. As old barns go this one is in pretty good shape, sad thing is that it is in the middle of a new sub-division. no land left for farming.

Thanks Lonnie: Was just trying out my new general purpose all-in-one lens. Bought the new Sigma 18-125 f3.5 DC Lens, so far I really like designed for DSLRs and feels real solid. Fred Mirandas site had some half way decent reviews on it, and it was in my budget so I went and got it.

New toy, huh? Cool. I'll be looking for lots of new pictures from it! :)

I finally offloaded my 28-135 IS and 75-300 IS lenses you were interested in a while ago. A coworker kept asking about them, then changing his mind. Eventually I found out that he was considering them for his girlfriend's sister who lives in the Czech Republic. They're going over there for her wedding in about a month and she asked them to buy a lens for her. Only problem is, she only makes $600/month and had a max budget of $200. When my coworker told me that they were already buying her a Drebel for a wedding present and he just couldn't afford the lenses I said she could have them for her $200 max budget price. Kind of my own wedding present, I guess.

I'm a sucker for a hard luck story, I suppose. At least it paid for most of my new Custom Bracket that I just got yesterday... :)

You picked a nice clear crisp morning to break in the new glass. :) Looks like a winner. What camera are you using? I've got a Sigma 12-24 that comes in handy from time-to-time...like when you're at the top of a steeple and can't step back too far. Where's the barn?

I'm using the 10D, kinda keep my G3 for a pocket camera. If I can get it away from my son.   The new line of Sigma and I guess the Tamrons designed for DSLRs are a pretty good deal for the money. If I remember the total out lay for that one at B&H photo was around $279 including the shipping

It just makes a real nice general purpose lens.

The barn is on Filly Street in Bloomfield

Thanks Reigh and Lonnie. Lonnie that was really nice of you to do that for them, Great story. Only taken 2 shots with the new toy but I sure like it more than the cheapo Canon lens I bought with the camera. (Canon 28-90mm 4.5 or close to it)

What character that old structure shows!! Very nice work. I think its sad that so much of our past is being lost and will only remain in pictures such as you have just taken. Call me sentimental, but I'm a sucker for that old nostalgic stuff. Again, NICE work.

Thanks so much. I feel the same way, They just don't build them like they used to. One of my goals is to take photo's of as many old buildings espicially barns as I can. Regardless of there condition.

And there is so many more that I see and must take a photo of, problem with a lot of them is that traffic sometimes is very heavy and there is really no place to pull off to safely get the shot  . Just have to time them better. :)

Colors and lighting are wonderful. Great capture.
Does this barn has a history that someone wants to preserve? so it has remained in the sub-division.
Isn't it too bad that so many of these places are dissapearing.
We still have quite a few old places still around here--but I fear not for very much longer. They are going fast.

I'm not really sure. There is an older house near the barn, so my guess is that saved that parcel of land and sold off the rest.
