... entitled "Seasons Around the World" containing 3 shots for each season, chosen from images submitted by members from all corners of the planet. Could be a great gift for members to give as seasonal gifts.

I'm up for it. Calendar would have to be easier than the book logistically.
You do have many of the same issues that will have to be dealt with. A way to submit the images, storage, voting, page creation, printing and distribution to name a few. Some of these you may be able to piggy back off of the book if you asked really nice. It is probably to late to put one together for 2009 but 2010 would be doable.

Sounds a good idea to me too. :)

But surely each part of the World is in different seasons? What season would you make December, summer or winter?

We could do a G&N version and a non G&N version.

That does present a problem. See below.

That is a great idea for what is probably an unintended reason: it could double sales! Every male photog would buy two: 1 for in the house with the wife / GF, one for over the workbench in the garage! :)
How about two calendar / season versions: northern hemisphere, southern hemisphere. This might also encourage increased sales (plus provide a solution for the gentleman whose wife / GF won't let him hand "that type" of calendar over the workbench! ;))

These projects are a lot of work.
So, who's the coordinator?

I think the "who smelt it, dealt it" rule applies.

The last 'project' I volunteered for took, oh, 80 hours. (Not POTN, something else)

No, no. I was thinking this was the perfect project for Canned to be our fearless leader.
All in favor say I.

Hmmmm. I had always thought it was that he who dealt it usually cannot smelt it!
Besides, it may no longer be a social stigma because latest research (http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2008/10/24/gas-hypertension.html) now says it may be a sign of good health. So blast away, my friend... blast away!
Just an idea. A new profit center. Lower shipping costs than books and so forth.
