using the video out to a tv?

been using this method very successfuly and really like it.

instant preview for the customer waiting/watching.

was wondering if this has any strain on the camera.

haven't read anything about it.

any input?

Interesting, what is the quality like on a tv screen?, I have played slideshows on a tv before from a cd and the quality was pretty poor, hardly worth looking at. I havn't tried straight from the camera, must give it a go when the wifes not watching blasted charmed.

images look pretty good. color is right on, clients can see pose, blinks, and lighting. we are shooting with 1Ds markII and displaying on a 32" crt.

I do and my customers love it as well as models who get instant feedback on their poses. Important safety tip though, do not have on when shooting young kids, it'll be a disaster as they will focus on the TV and nothing else...I forgot to turn it off and then when I did, it didn't matter. They just kept waiting for their pictures to show up on tv. :)

I wish you could use remote capture and display to tv, alas not possible it seems.

I shoot via the laptop using dSLR remote pro. Gives you all camera controls on screen and you can take preview shots and complete shots. All you do is compose then get behind the laptop.

Really cool program.

I have also control over the camera shooting tethered. Using EOS utility. The app looks a bit pants but works great.

I've been shooting tethered simply for the instant view of the shot on the laptop. I don't control the camera from the laptop but EOS Util needs to be running. I don't see why this would cause any issues with the camera or PC. It's recommended by Canon.
