so i'm going to china next week, and bringing my camera...as of now i don't have any insurance on it...yeah i know i should have renters insurance already...but i heard it doesn't cover travel anyways?...i've looked into travel insurance and for the most part they only cover $500 worth of camera gear...does anyone know of a company that offers more?

thanks in advance

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but here in Canada our Renters insurance (or homeowners) covers the cost of anything that travels with the policy holder. This includes laptops, cameras, cell phones, PDA, etc. Check with any insurance company about getting renters insurance that covers travelable items.

Insurance companies - Links and experiences (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=463437)

Because you have a descriptive title, you can look at the "Similar Threads" links at the bottom-left of this page!
Each link you visit should provide more links at the bottom.

thanks for the link...yeah most of the similar threads are just a person asking about insurance...and no responses...so that doesn't end up being much help...but your link does...

gee a Google with 'camera' and exact phrase 'travel insurance' yields a lot of hits (over a million) and exact phrase 'camera travel insurance' yields almost 1700 hits.

THE TYPE POLICY YOUR LOOKING FOR IS CALLED "INLAND MARINE INSURANCE" PROBABLY ANY INSURANCE COMPANY CAN WRITE THE POLICY FOR YOU. IT COSTS ME $75 A YEAR TO COVER 4500 WORTH OF GEAR AND IT COVERS EVERYTHING, THEFT, ANY KIND OF DAMAGE OR ABUSE, WHATEVER.

thanks for the useless comment...as i stated in my o.p. i've looked into insurance...and every travel insurance that deals with cameras only covers camera values up to 500 bucks..yes i haven't actually looked at all 1700 sites on there...but i did research it, and wasn't able to come up with anything...i found one that claimed to have an extra policy you could add...however when i contacted them about it they never got back to me

so yes i know how google works...but if you could find everything on google this forum would be pretty useless...i was looking for experience from people in the same boat as i am....

thanks for the info and the link

Sorry, but a lot of folks just ask the question because it is easy to do that. You mentioned research, but Google or other web search was not mentioned, so I just ass-U-me-d!
