I have seen so many posts from members that have or have used the "Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens" that I would like to know for how many of you, was this your first "L" lens? And how many own it, but bought it later.
So if you don't mind . . .
Do you own or have owned the "Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens."
Was the "Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens" your first "L" lens.
Comments and such are welcome as well, a testimonial to the merits and virtues of this fine piece of Canon Glass.

I have it - it was not my first "L" lens, but it was my first lens over 200 mm. Its a great performer IMHO. IS works great, its fairly light and easy to handle, and the push-pull zoom works well for me. Its sharp over the range, and very useable wide open.

The 100-400 was my first "White" L. The 70-200 f/2.8 was the second.
The 100-400 is just about the best "general purpose" lens out there.

It was my first L. But not my last, just the range I needed most urgently.

First lens I bought was a 100-400 ... all of the shots on my website were done with it.
It's about all I ever use. OK, it is all I ever use.
I'd love a "L" 500, 600 or even 1200, but doubt that will happen until I win the lottery, or find a beautiful lady who will support me in a manner I can become accustomed to.

It was the first and only so far for me, but won't be the last. The quality is great for the amount of range / distance you get.

The 24-70 f2.8L was my first. I then got the 70-200 f2.8 L IS and the 100-400 together. Out of these longer reach lenses the 100-400 has spent way more time on my camera than the 70-200. It is really hard to beat the 100-400.

The 24-70 was my first L. The 100-400 is my second (only white one), but hopefully not my last.

Well it was my first "L" and won't be my last. But I need L O N G lens . . . big guns for a big country. I think that this lens (100-400) is the best. Thanks guys, anymore of you out there?

I'll "third" that statement.
I actually got the 70-200 f/2.8 first, but barely used it. Then I got the 100-400 and almost never use the 70-200 except when I need the wide-open aperture or the wickedly fast auto-focusing.
But that 100-400... It can do so much... I love it.
