Something told me to head over to Ile Bizard this morning, just a nagging feeling. I drove around for a long time without seeing an owl and this is very rare. Could it be that they are hearing the "Come Home" song? After a couple of hours I returned to my favorite spot and lo and behold, Suzie (for some unknown reason I have named the owls I've been following:confused:) was sitting back in the corner of a small hay field looking towards the road. Since owls are very territorial, I believe, or want to believe, that this is the same owl that has for the past month and a half has claimed this area. I changed into my camo and slowly walked up the trail to her tree. She just sat there looking at me and every once in a while made a little "chrip" sound. I watched her for 45 minutes until my feet started to go numb and sort of lost the feeling in my fingers, even with gloves on. Once she decided that she was hungry and dove into a thick clump of weeds and caught a vole.
I watched her a little longer and took a couple of shots. Finally the cold drove me back to the Az. I cannot help but think that she will be gone if and when I return next. Business is taking me out of town for a few days and I will not be able to get up there again till next week.
I have spent a lot of time watching these amazing birds, maybe too much time, but I find them so incredibly beautiful and mysterious.
Thank you Suzie, and all your friends, for what was and might be a thrill of a life time. Till we hopefully meet again, some day.

I just keep coming back here to look at this post. These are two of the sharpest shots I've seen yet.

Thanks for all the kind words folks. I've had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the GGO's in the past couple of months. I worked late last night to be able to get one more go at them this morning. Don't tell Sheldon that I'll be on the Island this morning, he will be upset:):):):):):):)

USM applied but not a lot. Converted in C1 and a little levels and shadow work in PSCS. Resized for web and a little USM applied.

Amazing!
That first one is just like a character from an SF movie
It's a bit eerie, just as if you're appraised for an inbetween snack...
Very nice sharp pix!

You know I would seriously consider submitting a series to something like BBC Wildlife Magazine - these are as good as anything I have seen there. Sorry if this is teaching grandmother to suck eggs - just my way of saying - WOW WOW WOW.

Damian,
Thank you very much.. I will seriously look into submitting a couple of images to BBC. I've never submitted any images, maybe it is time to do so.
BTW, I love that expression, "Teaching grandmother to suck eggs":):):):):):)
