I updated to the latest ACR version and it handles the 50D raw files fine but Bridge (2.1.1.9) won't show the thumbnails. Any suggestions?
TIA

Try purging the cache. Also, make sure the updated ACR is in the correct folder.

Thanks I'll do that. Yes the 8bf file is in the correct directory, like I said ACR is working for the 50D just not the thumbs in Bridge though I can still open the files from Bridge.

Try this.
Purge the central cache manually.
1. Open Bridge CS3.
2. Choose Bridge CS3 > Preferences > Cache (Mac OS) or Edit >
Preferences > Cache (Windows).
3. Note the folder path that is listed beneath Cache Location.
4. Close Bridge CS3.
5. In the Finder (Mac OS) or Windows Explorer (Windows), navigate to the
folder path that you noted in Step 3. Then delete the folder named data.
On Windows XP, the default cache location is \Documents and
Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS3\Cache.
Note: On Windows, the default paths include hidden folders. To make
hidden folders visible:
1. In Windows Explorer, choose Tools > Folder Options (Windows XP) or
Organize > Folder And Search Options (Windows Vista).
2. In the Folder Options dialog box, choose the View tab.
3. In Advanced Settings, select Show Hidden Files and Folders.
4. Click OK.

Thanks again Dennis, did that and still no thumbs or previews in Bridge. Next step I guess is reinstalling Photoshop :(.

Sorry. The only other thing that I've heard is double check the plugin and make sure it's in the correct folder and only that folder. Also, maybe try to reset preferences. Hope something helps.

CS3 doesn't support the 50D RAW files, you need CS4 for that. Either that or convert to DNG. See the ACR FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=244018) for details.
Edit - oops yes it does, ignore me.

Actually, it does with ACR4.6.

Oh, interesting.
If thumbnails aren't displaying check the ACR FAQ for solutions.

CS3 works fine with 50D raw files. You need ACR 4.6. I could not get the thumbnails to appear in Bridge until I cleared the Cache AND also removed all the old versions of ACR from the \program files\common\adobe\cs3\plugins\formats folder.....or somthing like that. The exact path name is detailed in adobes installation instructions for ACR.

Ah ha that did it. I had renamed the old 8bf file rather than deleting it in case I had a problem with the new one. Removing the old one, even though it was renamed did the trick.
Thanks for you input.
