I asked a similar question on another thread which went unanswered so I figured I'd try again. Forgive my ignorance if the query doesn't make complete sense.

A couple of years back when Kodak First came out with the 14 mp camera, they posted a picture on the Kodak website, a rather large file, which, when downloaded, withstood all the zooming I could do without pixelating on my screen. Was this a trick?

When I zoom pics taken on the 20d, they pixelate after 200 percent zoom.

Do pics taken on the 1ds mark II do the same?

Thanks

If you zoom any image to 200% or greater enlargement (each image pixel occupies 2x2 pixels on screen) it'll pixellate. It'll just take a greater enlargement on a 14 MP, or a 16+ MP, image than on an 8.2 MP image. If you still have a copy of that old 14 MP image around somewhere, with your current software, video adapter and monitor, see how far you can enlarge it now.

All pretty much do. Zoom and actual interpolation is slightly differnt.

I shoot with a 19 mpx digital camera and even that does the same at 200%.

The higher the res, the larger the pic at 100% zoom, the less you need to consider viewing it at 200%.

That is quite helpful. Thank you all.
