Awesome lighting for this one. Loved it.

All with 50mm f/1.8, shot at ISO 800, f3.5 to f5 and shutter of 1/125 to 1/200.

I am personally happier with this set then with the others from this show.

I'd bin #6: it's too OoF, #7 has a bit of shake.
Apart from that, nice moments & good set.

Ridiculous amount of light ;)

2 and 3 looks real good.

i am surprised they let you have a camera in there, the last concert i went to, they said no pro cameras allowed.

i like #2 the best..1 and 8 are too similar, and 3 and 6 have either some focus or some other issues going on.

Nice set, but as others have said, ditch the OOF ones. I'd also vary your focal length a bit more ... go wide, go long. There's not much variety here.

I'd love to vary my focal length, but unfortunately, I'm financially restricted to the 50mm. I am taking donations for a new lens. PM me for details. :D

your kit lens would have worked fine for this show.

Yes, but all it would have gained me is the wider angles. It's an 18-55mm, and at 55mm, it would be f5.6, which would have been a tad dark depending on the lights at any one moment. The stage was about 6.5ft high, so the wider angles may have been more annoying....

A 24-70 would have been killer. Again, donations are happily accepted. PM me for details.

wide angles are not a bad thing...everything doesn't have to be a tight crop of a single player. why use the kit lens @ 55mm when you've already covered that w/ the 50mm prime?

i use my 24-70L on my 5D a lot, which yields about the same focal range as the 18-55 on a crop body.

True. I only have one camera body though, so switching lenses in 2-3 punk emo songs of less then 3:30 each would suck. 24-70L is also f2.8

I think Narlus is saying that you had enough light for 18mm at 3.5, and I suspect he's right. Shoot with the 50/1.8 for half of the set, then throw something wider on for a while. Easy :)
