Hi All,

Tried my MiniCove out today for the first time. This was an eBay bargain that with a little work I've got back to new (almost).

First shot is the object itself, the Canon 50mm f1.4. Second shot is of the setup.

Cheers

Ian

That is kind of cool . . . tell me more about the setup and how you do that. The shot of the 50/1.4 is very nice.

Thank you. :)

The Colorama MiniCove is a very nice item. All I have done is paint the inside with pure white emulsion paint (three coats). Then I've lit the whole thing with a single stobe fitted with a 100cm x 100cm softbox. The light then bounces around the inside giving minimal shadows. Any shadows you do get are very soft edged. In addition, because of the shape of the inside of the cove, there is effectively no "edges". So you don't get a "horizon" behind the object. The picture below hopefully shows you what I mean.
