There's an ad for Suburu cars running in Australia at the moment in which a photog is shooting a rally with what looks like a 1D and 70-200L, and it got me thinking about how many times Canons pop up in film and TV. I've noticed a lot of Nikons on shows like CSI, so I'm wondering how many Canons people have picked up in their TV/movie watching?

By the way, ever notice how many movies feature cameras that have been de-branded, with their logos masked or removed?

I was watching Jeff Corwin on animal planet with my kids and he reached into his bag and pulled out a 1D and 100-400 to take some pics in the African Desert.

Did anyone notice the end of the Superbowl?

All of those cameras snapping at the champs appeared to be 1Ds MkII.

I thought that was interesting....I replayed it with DVR in slow mo - frame x frame just to make sure and I could swear that I saw about 8 of them.....

I saw a comercial during the superbowl where these guys were spying on someone with a HUGE camera.

The comercial opened up looking through a viewfinder and you could clearly see the 45 point AF system of a 1 series body. It was cool :-D

What was that movie with Bruce Willis where he builds that remote control gun that has the huge white lens on it (was it a 1200 ????) to remotely shoot the president or something? I forget the name of the film, but I'm damn sure that was a Canon cannon :)

Peter Parker used a Canon F-1N in Spiderman 2 and, I think, Spiderman, too!

'The day of the Jackal'

But it wasn't big enough to be a 1200, my guess is it was a 600 mm. In this case, however, the actual gun it was mounted to was big enough

Best regards,
Andy

Not from TV or a movie, but...

It's that time of year again...anyone eat Girl Scout Cookies? If you look on the box of the Animal Treasures (the bright pink box) you can see what I believe to be a 1Ds with a 1200mm f/5.6L.

Mmmm...I think I'll go have a look...err...cookie right now

One of the go daddy.com ads has a Canon, recognized the big white lens. The body was one of the pro level ones, more beefy than a 20D in appearence...

How about Canon's in music? Anything that beats Paul Simon's lyrics of a Nikon camera with Kodachrome?

AHAHAHAHAHAHA....

I thought I was the only person who watched the super bowl for the single purpose of counting the canon beauties in their full glory...I counted 11 of them - at the end.

I'm sure there were tons more but they didnt show those on TV... ;)

I was going to say the same thing! 1D's held high overhead snapping randomly at swarming masses of players. So I wasn't the only bonehead to play back in slo-mo trying to identify the cameras.

Canon perpetuus

Variations on the Canon

I think they're using the 24-70 L on the other side of the box.

I was watching the DVD of LiveAid (the famine relief concert from the early Eighties) and there was plenty of "L" glass in the press box in front of the stage, including the clever dick who balanced one camera on the lip of the stage while using his second camera only for it to fall 5' to the floor.

I was lucky enough to be at the F1 here in Melbourne - it was wall to wall white lenses. Now if I could just figure out a way to get over that annoying little spectator barrier...

In the latest movie by Will Smith, "Hitch".....you see what's her face pick up a Canon from a friend.....had a White lens....that was the dead giveaway for canon. Anyways it was kool. If you ever watch any Tennis matches you wil see just how many people use Canon.
