I know there are tons of photosharing websites out there and i'm going crazy trying to pick 1...If i need an easy, FREE application, which would it be??? i use it for family & friends photosharing, so don't need anything too complexed...Another ESSENTIAL function is the ability to make my photos PRIVATE....i only want those that were invited to VIEW them, to be able to access them....
ANy input appreciated :p

the problem i have with photobucket is that if i send the address to the photos i am sharing, they then have access to all of my other stuff that was uploaded...Is there a way to change that or is that the only way to do it???
thanks all..

I have used Picasa's Web Albums in the past. Get Google's Picasa 3 software which I think is ace and it'll upload pictures to a web album and you can make the galleries private if you so wish. I also have started to use Flickr.

I have been using Flickr for a couple of years and it sounds as though it would suit your needs. I find it excellent.

I know it does that on myspace, not here though. If you make your gallery private they can only see that one picture they click on in photobucket. If you click gallery or next image it asks for a password.

I used photobucket before and it's quick and easy, but I find flickr to be more "professional" looking. It's been a number of years since I've used photobucket though, it may have improved alot.

zenfoilo is free for 14 days, you should try it. Once your 14 days is up, and you don't want to pay, then go to flickr.

thanks all...I love the look and setup of zenfolio, just really don't wanna have to pay for the service...Am i being cheap? LOL, maybe...its just for my purposes, sharing photos with family and friends so that everytime i take pics, i'm not making 20 cd's with 300 pics on it!!! LOL!!!
anyone tried kodak gallery...this looks basic enough, no?? i did notice one thing though, the picture quality is diminished...

You can restrict the sizes available to joe public, so although they can save its pretty small.

i heard photobucket downgrades the quality of your picture? dont know if thats true.
but i believe you can put it in different folders, and you can make that folder public/privite, if you put a password on it, i think that password will be your log-in.

Picasa's service is good, and the new software has a lot of editing options for free software. Makes it easy to upload/share/make private, etc.

You can choose to have that enabled and disabled. For what it's worth, I don't care because I don't upload anything big enough and any image you display can be downloaded.
Overall I prefer flickr as I like the simple layout and interface and the built in community. Met some great people through a local Flickr group.

from what i understand, flickr isn't free, or at least not after "x" amount of uploads?? is this correct?

i heard photobucket downgrades the quality of your picture? dont know if thats true. I've used it for 3-4 years without problems & don't remember it ever going off line. You need to make the right choices.
Before uploading your images to your Photobucket account, choose either a
display or file size that is equal to or larger than that of your images. You
can do this by clicking on the 'Uploading Options' link in your upload panel
and then on the radio button next to your preferred size. If an option is
greyed out, this means the option is not available for your Photobucket
account type. Selecting a size larger than your images will prevent further
resizing upon upload and help expedite the upload process. To make the changes
permanent, you must upload at least one image from the upload panel. This is
important for Pro users using FTP or anyone using the Windows XP Publisher. If
you choose to use the file size options, the file size of the original image
will take precedence over the the display size and any display size is
accepted as long as the file size is less than your choice in the 'Uploading
Options'.
I always click on the image to get the 100% size that I've uploaded, & then use that URL for display.
