A few of the suspects that were caught taking candy from strangers around my neighborhood last night.

I took the 20D out for a spin along with my flash.... and did I say that I'm TERRIBLE with flash... I didn't bother taking pictures outside in the dark.. I knew they would end up in the trash can... :(

Maybe next year.

All in all we had a great time visiting with neighbors and staying up way too late.

You had two new kids in the couple of months I was away from the forum? :)

These look fine. The only "mistake" I can tell you made was that you had your subject too close to the background and have a shadow thrown on the wall from it but you know better than that ;)

Yeah... I know (about the BG). I was running around like a crazy person as per my normal routine on Halloween night... and the girls wanted to hurry up and go out and I don't let them leave until I take pictures... then the friends stop by to let me see "how cute" they are and I end up doing a mini-photo shoot on the fly...

So attention to detail goes out the window... It's like grab and go...

Besides.. I promised myself to not be obsessive over perfect pictures this year... So now I can be happy.

Blah, blah, blah.... I talk waaaaay too much....

We often forget that the pictures we are taking of our families are to remember the moment, not create a work of art.

I know ten years from now when I look back at some christmas, thanksgiving, birthday type pictures the only memories I'll have of some of them are lighting issues and flash settings :)

It's more important to capture the memory and move on in shots like this. They look great regardless.

Thank you for writing that. Because it's so important... to just shoot the moment and not worry about all the technical stuff.

When I iron out all of my current challenges.... I decided that I was going to take at least a month and just shoot from my heart...

Not worry about sharpness, detail, perfect exposures or anything... just look for the moment and the creative angle of it and run with it.

Because you are so right... in 10 years we can have perfect pictures, or memories that draw us in... and create some sense of emotion depending on the subject. And that is what I think taking pictures is about anyway. The emotional side of it....

There I go again... I must be chatty tonight.. or I'm avoiding the laundry... Guess I should go vaccuum. :(

lol... ;) I forgot to comment on this... You must have been gone more than a couple of months if I was able to have a 2-year old and a 5 month old in that time... Plus I must have been pregnent for nearly 2 years...

Lucky for me I still only have my two girls...

Awww.. thanks Carley.... I love them both, and agree that they're darn cute but I'm totally biased. Nice to get compliments from other people.

Thanks!
