In México we have a tradition to honor and celebrate our deaths , this is the day where they visit their loved ones, listen to their favorite music and feast with their favorite foods. Each year, we make altars (Altares) where we put offerings (ofrendas) which consist of pictures, their favorite foods, flowers, candles, and symbolic things that were important to them.

Here is a picture of an altar I made to My Brother and grand parents with the help of my GF.

( Bro.... I Miss you soo much :( )

Are these altars on display in public or is it usually a private rememberance? Thank you for sharing!

I remember when I first heard about this holiday in school, and I though it was morbid (because I was ignorant). But now that I'm all grown up, I really feel this is a great holiday to remember the past on family and friends. Wish we had this day.

The photos are nice, beautiful colors, and background information was a nice add on. Thanks for sharing.

some of them are public some of them are private, for example, mine was private, just something i made inside my house, but you can find very big altars on the streets, some of the as decoration made by the city and some of them made by regular people.

y took some shots yesterday on a graveyard, ill post them when they are procesed, so you can see all the festivity behind this, some of them with musicians playing music on their graves , i really love mexican traditions..

thanks, glad you like them, other people from other countries sometimes find this offending, but i think its a great way to honor the deaths in a happy way!

i really like the second last one
thanks!

That's why I feel so proud to be Mexican, I find our culture so rich and full of beautiful traditions.

Sorry about your brother, and it's nice to see that he liked Indio beer... it was one of my favorites a couple of years ago. (QEPD).

Saludos
