Here's another shot that I originally discarded from one of my travel galleries. This is the view from "Grand View Point" in Canyonlands Nat'l Park, Utah. I had just driven 3 hours from Salt Lake City, hoping to get more sunlight on the buttes, but the sun was just about gone as you can see. I was somewhat disappointed because I knew I wouldn't be able to come back here for quite awhile (still haven't been able to go back in almost a full year). This photo was originally too dark anyway, so I passed it over. I've lightened up the rocks in the lower left and darkened the sky a bit.
(By the way, this was taken with a non-Canon camera [Leica D2], but it's my understanding that this is OK here.)

I haven't been to Canyonlands yet. Maybe I'll have to go there now.

It is a really good shot. I was there in sept and took a shot from nearly the same spot. Mine was at noon, so the high sun weakened the distant elements, even though the closer elements show more color. It's not necessarily bad to photograph near dark, as the details can be much more clear.

Agreed. I think your work is fantastic.
I'm just getting back into photography after a bit of a hiatus, and I'm only recently exploring the world of digital photography. Your work is more than a bit inspiring...
