I got a letter in the mail from my friend who is currently at Infantry training, when he is done he will most likely be in Afghanistan or Iraq...or wherever else the war on terror will soon lead us.
I've known a few guys who have been shipped out to different places, a few who have been to iraq. But Kieth is the first guy i've actually cared about on any level as he's a good friend of mine.
It gives me shivers to read the (hand written) letter, kind of puts a new persepective on things. As a kid, especially one growing up with email and what have you, letters from war that hear about in things like WWI WWII nam...etc etc, just seems fake and hollywood. But now that i've actually recived a letter from my friend, who is only in infantry training at the moment...mind you, it just makes me realize how much i apreciate waht they are doing.
"it's 1:30 and i'm on fire gaurd"...makes me feel a little guilty for sitting in my big padded chair eating a peice of cocunut cream pie.
So, i guess what i'm saying, if you know anyone who is serving then take the time to write 'em a good old fashion letter, i'd imagine it would mean a lot to them.
