Well, i went for broke. Sold my stocks that were gathering dust, and upgraded my kit. Hubby said "Oh honey, that's your stock/money - you do with it what you want!"... well, don't need to tell me twice! ;oP AND, there was an unforseen spike about 5 minutes before I sold, so I, uh, did pretty good. I sold, and I bought... and I'll probably hear a "luuuuuucyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy you got some 'splainin' to do!" in a minute, but oh well.. I just don't think he realized how serious I was... I rarely joke about money.
In my shopping basket is a new 20D and grip, a 24-70 f/2.8L, a 70-200 f/2.8L IS, a 300 f/4, and a 100 f/2.8 Macro - and the cherry on the sundae is a 1.4x teleconverter. <sigh> I am in a state of shock and horror... and pure unabashed glee... I think.
I upgraded from my 10D with grip 28-135mm 3.5whatever IS, and a 75-300 whatever IS. Now, should I sell these old IS lenses? I've had them since last July, no boxes, they're clean, they're just fine, but I doubt I'll ever use them.
Last thing to purchase, I need a flash arm that will handle this body w/a grip. I'm just making my foray into the world of lighting. Help, suggestions for the flash arm would be appreciated.
nina, glad I'm leaving for a 2 week business trip... it'll be christmas when I come home!

You're going to need a caddy to carry it all. Congrats! I don't use a battery grip, so I don't know for sure what bracket will work. I use the stroboframe camera flip, but like I said I don't use the battery grip.

Congrats on the new equipment. I would be interested if the price is right on the 28-135mm 3.5whatever IS Lens. Happy shooting and have a great trip.

Wow...congratulations. Too bad my stock didn't fair as well :( . Nice choice of lenses. As for the 28-135mm, I think I would keep it. While not the best lens, it is a great walk around lens when you don't want to carry the nearly 3 pound 70-200 f2.8. Don't know about the 75-300mm as I've never used it.
Enjoy your trip and "Christmas"...

Thanks folks! I have never been so outlandish in spending in my life... I am a TIGHTWAD... hahahha
However, I have had 3 requests for sr. portraits (did my first one this weekend, it turned out so-so). Luckily the young woman is a friend, and more than willing to be my guinea pig while I learn. The other two portraits are friends of hers whose parents just don't have the money to set them up. (very small rural farm community). Then, I find myself with five rodeos and six weddings to shoot between June and September (I am a flunkie for a friend who has a wedding photography biz). I figure with the work I am putting into my photography, and where I want to take it, it's time to get very serious. Thankfully, things presented themselves in a way I could do this, otherwise, I'd still have that B&H catalog with all the dog eared corners... <sigh>
I look at my employee stock purchase plan in a totally different light now... ;o)

You won't be using the 75-300mm after you've used the 70-200mm L so I'd sell it.

Good one:-) I did a similar thing 10D to the MKII 70-200 2.8, 24-70L 2.8, 550EX remote timer 1.4x. Now I looking for the crowning glory the 16-35L and the 300 2.8. I shoot lots of stuff for the local newspapers so it is not just because I want I want I want. But it is a great excuse. Enjoy yur new gear you'LL Love it. I have played with the 20D it is a marked improved over the 10D which still holds a place in my heart.
Cheers

Groundworx -
My goal is the Mark II... ;o) I have five rodeos on my schedule this summer, and need that speed. I figure in early July I'll be able to upgrade again - body only.
My valentine brought me that digital timer for my 10D - OH WHAT FUN that thing is!!!!
Santa brought me the 580 EX, but I wonder - I keep seeing many folks clinging to the 550... why is this?
