I honestly hope no one was ever hurt in this video, but all you rally racing photogs, watch out.
Edit: Not sure if insanely cool is the best way to describe this. Insanely Crazy would be a better way to say it.

:shock::shock: I thought the Forest of Dean rally was dangerous enough....the more I see of rallying the more I like the idea of some nice armco between me and the track ( as long as I can still shoot over it:o;))

In one of the first crashes, it looks like someone's camera and tripod got just obliterated by a car. Does insurance cover those kinds of things?

I have raced in a couple amateur and lower level stuff in Quebec and northern Ontario.
The only way you are able to drive is to block out the fact that people are standing an arm distance from your car wile you drift through a corner doing 70-80.
I guess you pay the price to get the shot.

It still looks fun. I wrecked a car on a dirt path when I was 16... and I have always wanted a second chance at that curve in a WRX.

You're kidding... At least one is quite seriously injured if not dead - in the middle or near the end of the video the one with the door hitting the tree.
The funniest part was that interview and the naughty colleague with his finger... :D

- I don't think I'd ever want to drive in a race like that...sheesh. That'd take some guts to do. I'd absolutely love to see a Rally race though. Unfortunately, Rally just has not taken off over here in the US. I guess I'm gonna have to cross the pond to get to see some Rally stuff.

several years ago WGN TV in Chicago did a promo for Mad Max. They did a mix of all the best wrecks from the movie with Willy Nelson's "On The Road Again".... way funny.

On the pedantic side, it is Rallying, not rally racing. The only thing they race against is time.
Most deaths at rallies are spectators as the cars are built to take severe punishment, keeping the occupants intact. When I rallied a Mini Cooper I rolled it a couple of times and apart from the embarassment, the loss of mirrors, a number of dents and broken glass, I walked away from each one shaken but not stirred.
The Canadians have come the closest in north america to getting rallying right, but are still confused about the role of the co-driver/navigator. Unless it goes round in circles and spectators can see a full stage from behind high fences while eating a hot dog and drinking a beer, it will never take off in the US. :)

Totally insane. But I'm willing to bet they think chasing a bird with a camera is totally insane.

"Rallying" haha is dangerous and scary, especially for spectators. I have twice seen guys I know plow into a crowd(no one seriously hurt). In Canada we keep the fans a little further back for safey reasons, but sometime you still have 30-40 people standing at an ungaurded turn. You really can't think about them or you will end up going really slow.
Most spectators don't realise that a rally driver although they care, do not consider the fact that there are people standing there, if the car doesnt go into the corner right, well, nothing you can do but but hit the spectators. I have had a view close calls myself, I guess people should consider the fact that it might not be as safe when the guy coming at you full steam is not solberg, but someone with 20 races under his belt.

Rallying is very cool but if I had the money it takes, Baja is where it's at. http://www.baja.net/videos.php If anyone can come up with some good video clips please post them. :)
