So in a little less than three weeks i am headed to London, Bath and Dublin. i was wondering what are the must see attractions and photo opportunities. Also, what are some of the off the beaten path photo opportunities?.

thanks in advance,
Phillyguy

London: apart from all the Tour Guide stuff, get out of town on a train.
Try Leeds Castle (Train from Victoria to Bearsted) Superb castle, Google it.
Maybe train down to Brighton, good photo oppertunities in the "Lanes" etc.
Possibly train it down to Rochester, Kent.... 1hr ride, if I'm around I could poss' show you some English rural countyside for an hour or two!

Bath is beautiful, the tourist stuff is worth doing. Maybe Bristol next city along, waterfront is nice. Rent a car and head to Devon, long drive but superb scenery.

Dublin, never been, just drink Guiness and get ****** :)

Spent a week in London 20 years ago. Did all the major sites (Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, St Paul's, etc, etc in just a few days. Then, took bus tours to Bath, Stratford-on-Avon, Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge, small towns like Woodstock, etc. Great times out in the country. Even better if you rent a car and stay overnight in some of these places.

All that way and you are not visiting the best place for any type of photography in the UK - Scotland!

Edinburgh is a stunning city and the scenery as you head north is just breathtaking! Sure Bath is nice (I've been there) but not a patch on the stunning places in Scotland.....

But that doesn't answer your question!

London is full of photographic opportunities. You may find that in some locations you will be restricted on use of a tripod.

Dublin! I've been and saw but not sure I remember too much out about it ;)

If it's London you're after there are a few Londoners that hang out in this thread: POTN UK SE Group (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6684763#post6684763) they should be able to give you some pointers if you drop in and say hi. They may even offer to meet up with you for a day.

I would recommend the highlands of Scotland. The big cities situated in the lowlands, such as Glasgow and Edinburgh don't differ that much aesthetically from other big UK cities. The remote parts of the highlands can offer some breathtaking scenery, especially the monroes. Skye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye) is a good place to go.

Too far from London, Bath and Dublin though! That would take a whole week at least to do any justice to the area.

How long are you going for? If not long I'd stick to the tourist trails to see the major sights. Bath is beautiful but you'll shoot it in a few days.

In London, try and get a black cab and ask the driver for his favourite place in London, its apparently a way to get to the offtrail sights.

Not enough time to see everything, of course, so stick to the tourist trails. Perhaps download some walks from the tourist information centres before you arrive.
