what are te largest size SD cards i can use on it? which do you use and y?
i read the manual but i have no idea if the camera can only handle up to a certain capacity

I believe that with the latest firmware (1.2.6 for the 1D II, 1.1.6 for the 1Ds II, and 1.1.2 for the 1D IIN) you can successfully use and format cards larger than 8 GB.

Over 2 GB, SDHC is the only recognized standard. 2 GB or less, it's exclusively SD. There are some companies that tried assorted tweaks to get their SD cards past 2 GB, but they don't have universal portability.

Remember you need to get a SDHC reader too in order to read SDHC cards.

anyone have an idea about max size for cf and sdhc in the 1dmk2

You can go over 8. I've seen reports of at least 16 being used in some of the newer EOS cameras. Remember that larger cards tend to be slower, both in the camera and in downloading. I could use 16-32 GB cards in some of my cameras, but because of the performance issues I prefer to carry around a bunch of smaller ones (4-8 GB, and the 8 GB ones are the fastest ones I can get).
