What photo camera to buy

i am new to the forum so first i want to say hi to all ;)

i am looking for new camera sub 100$ in ebay i found many with even 12 MP cheap (china) while other from brand company for the same price range propose only 8 mp or less ,
What should i purchase China (12mp) or brand name (8 or lower MP)?

SLR are the "big" cameras which you can change lenses. With a $100 budget, obviously that is not what you are looking for.

For $100 I would look at a used brand name camera, 5-8mp don't go for any kind of cheap no-name garbage.

Sony cybershot's are okay. That is what i started with, and it was very capable. I had the 8.1 mp version.

I would get the brand name with less mp. I work with a few people that took cheap no name china made cameras for a field trip. Their picture quality was much worse than my 2 mp iPhone. That's really not saying much at all for those cameras.
