View Full Version : My Card took a dump

When I bought my XTI it came with a CF card with it so I thought I would just use it until I get a better card. Well that time is now. I have gotten many card errors and slow loading on both my computer and camera. I've been looking at sanDisk 4.0gb. I figured a smaller card would be better for me as I don't take that many photos. For the people that have this card, is it worth the money or should I jump to something else?

a card is a card is a card

4GB is plenty and the 30 bones it costs is not a huge investment considering your XTi will take around 1,000 pics on it...

I have that exact CF card (Sandisk Extreme III 4gb) and I have no problems with it. It's been great and 4gb is plenty for me.

I have that card, it's fast and reliable. Holds about 320 40D RAW files, over a thousand JPG.

Amazon has it for $26 (bulk packaging)
B&H has if for $30 after rebate (retail packaging)

Have the same card and it works for me and I have never had any problems with it. Go for it!

Cheers,

The one I use is a 4GB standard 'blue label' from Sandisk. Slower than the Extreme III but cheaper. I'm no pro and therefore do not need blazing card speeds. Besides, my camera itself is old and writes fairly slow to card. It makes little sense to buy an expensive card and then have that extra speed wasted.

I've used the 1Gb and 2Gb versions.
I've just ordered 3 x 4Gb for the 40D. All in all they're pretty cheap in the long run.

I use the 4g Extreme III on an XTi. Good card, does the job and get around 200 RAW shots. Infact, I have 2. Worth the money.

i personally considered it, but i didn't want to be changing cards if i was shooting a wedding or series of shoots and went with 2x 8gb Ext III . I also have the 2 Gb version and have never had any problems with any of the series, transfers are nice and fast (better if you have a card reader).

I'm probably going to get trounced for even suggesting this, but I have moved away from Sandisk in favor of Transcend. I just bought for of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208418) for my 50D. I consider them a good deal at approx $41 each. And, shooting RAW, I get just a bit less than 200 images per 4GB card. And, they are fast enough to keep up with the write buffer of the 50D.

That is all I use, its a great product. Their entire line is good. And every card is not equal, there are some crappy cards out there. Buy sandisk and never look back.

I use nothing but SanDisk Extreme III and Extreme IV and haven't had any problems with any of them.

a card is a card is a card

couldnt disagree more.

the read/write rates between camera and card and card and computer were hugely noticable when i changed from my old kingston card to sandisk.

I've used Sandisk extreme III cards since I started shooting digital and they've never failed on me.
