This is my 5 month old daughter Josie. this was just a quick 5 minute photoshoot. I was just wanting to play with a 1 light set up. I usually use 2 lights and a reflector, but just trying out something different. C&C welcome as always.

Nice and sharp. I think #3 is my favorite. I might like to see the santa hat in color. :)

I had thought about getting rid of the drool, but decided against it. She is teething and i think its cute to see her drooling everywhere lol. She sucks her fingers too, so that just makes her even more drooly. lol

Very nice :) I do think the one with the santa hat would look nice with the selective color (yes I said the 2 bad words everyone hates) haha. I think it would work with this one.

Haha I know what you mean :) I agree that A lot of times it doesn't work... but I think this one does. Because I was really curious I downloaded your pic for a quick edit - and when I say quick I mean really quick just so I could picture it in my head...haha

anways - I created a new layer and painted over the hat with soft white bush with layer mode to overlay and then used adjust hue/saturation with color so I could change the hat back to red. I thought it looked very cute.

I think you should post yours :)

One note.... i know you were trying out one light setup and the limitation is causing one problem I was taught to avoid. See how in a lot of these how the black background is creeping around the subject from behind? This is rarely a desired effect. It makes it so the subject is lost in the background when we, the viewers, want to know where the subject ends and the background starts. This is why hairlights and kicker lights work so well. But the other option would be to have the light a little more flat so there is less darkness on the shadow wide of the subject.

Just my $.02

That was my intentions. I was not wanting to seperate her from the black background. that is why i only used 1 light.I was looking for a more dramatic lighting effect, and trying to bring out more of her face. but thanks for that 2 cents ;)
