My daughter's 2nd grade class is going to have a year end camping trip (at Vasquez Rocks in the Santa Clarita area, for those of you familiar). What lens/drebel camera settings do you guys and gals recommend for good late night, around the campfire pics?

Preferably firelight only, no flash if possible.

Thanks!! :)

Well ... regardless of the camera settings, you'll need a tripod if you're not going to use flash.

Lens recommendation would be the fastest you have ... the 50/1.8 (if you have one) would be a good candidate.

A camp fire won't be enough to light up your pictures. You'll probably have to use flash.

But i doubt flash is an option as there are other campers and u dont wanna ruin there experience with flashes popping off all night. I wouldnt recommend taking pics at night in such a case, cuz i dont think u will get enough out of a 50/1.8, although since u can pick one up for cheap, i guess it worth a try
