If you visit other areas of POTN, you probably know that taking a shot of a duck when you get a new lens is requisite... Good luck and all.

What about astro? Should we have a "good luck" target?

I guess our Duck would be the Moon. Most nights it's readily available and it's bright enough and large enough for all to try. Once you begin to shoot deep sky objects it becomes an obstacle but I still enjoy looking at it any chance I get. Won't be long now Rick, any patches of clear sky yet?

Yea, I say the moon. That's what everyone shoots when they get their first long lens.

I agree, the moon was my first thought.

Steve- cloudy till I hit the sack last night... :( Tonight is looking good though!

The moon will be one of the first things I shoot when I sort a new scope out.

It has to be the moon. It is the only object that is visiable most of the time year round on both ends of the planet.

Orion's Belt seems popular - plenty of objects in there. No?
