I bought the Canon (plastic) lens adapter shortly after I bought the A70 last year. It's has about 12 months of useful life then the thread on the adapter went. Now I can't screw in my auxillary lens--the thread is worn. The lens pops off the adapter when I try to tighten it or move it. The adapter actually seems to bend. I would recommend the aluminum adapters based on this experience.

That's really a sour deal, you would think it would out last the camera anyway. Sorry to hear that.

Thanks for the sympathy, Cactus.

I keep my adapter permanently attached to the lens. Probably minimizes wear-and-tear on the thread?

Thanks jhnel:

I have been using an old .6x aux. I needed a 52mm->49 mm ring to attach it. The ring got jammed on the back of the lens. Those resize rings have very fragile threads too. I must have stripped it moving it off the adapter. I didn't remove it often. The last time I did I could keep the resize ring on the adapter and just remove the lens. Now everything seems jammed up. It's a mess.
