My 6-year-old Rottie was bitten by a brown recluse three weeks ago. If he would leave the wound alone, it may have healed a week ago, but there is NO stopping a Rottie from doing something he wants to do!
Anyway, I was checking my lights for a shoot this weekend and of course shoved the pups in front of the camera.
Even though we were playing around, I thought I'd share the photo as a reminder to other pet owners.
The wound is about four inches long. It started as a scrape-looking lesion about 1/2 inch across. That grew to a nasty, oozing pustule. Then the fur fell out. Then the second lesion appeared.
It's on the mend now, but it's been a course of antibiotics, two ruined e-collars, two visits to the vet, and a small fortune in bandage materials!
Enjoy, spider-bitten Rottweiler, Kirby.
