Some of you know my friend blinking8s on this board and may remember he took pics in the same dome. I finally got my feet wet and took these pics today. Luckily the pole vault area wasn't crowded. So I approached the official and asked how close was I allowed to get... He looked around and pointed to the bird watcher that was right beside the action and at eye level to the pole, "will that do?" lol

YES! I learned that day that sometimes all you gotta do is ask politely

I really like #8. #4 is a cool shot too but would have been better if the vaulter had a bit better form. There's not much energy loaded into the pole and he's not inverted (my son vaults for UNC).

You had a great vantage point for that event!
