besides telling me what you think of the overall aesthetics and composition of the image, what do you think of that tag being in there? should it be cloned out?

is does suck that damn tag had to be there. I really like the composition, and had a think about a re-crop, but you really cant get away with another crop without taking away from the composition.
Give it a try to clone it out & see if you can, it might just put that pic over the edge!
Great detail & contrast! Good shot!

i cloned it out. refresh the first post and it should show. i kinda saved over the original so it's like that for good unless i want to reconvert the raw file. @@

Beautiful Rob. Can't even tell. Amizing retouch. Can you share how you did it? I'd love to be able to remove something like that, and that shot seems to be a challenging one to do that on (i.e. lots of complex things behind what you're trying to remove).
Nice job.

nothin too challenging. just sample an area with the clone tool that looks like it matches with what should go over the part you want to clone out, then use a soft brush so that you get a smooth transition and no hard edges from the brush strokes.

Hi Rob,
I took a quick look at the image in Photoshop. Try using the sepia photo filter and see if you like the effect.

lol... you had me looking for the "tag" for a good 2-3 minutes... until i gave up and scrolled down further and saw this... *chuckle*
although not my usual style of picture, but it has lovely texture and detail :D ... i've probably spent more time looking at it than i have any other textural picture because i was looking for the tag. *chuckles some more*

Oh, and now that i know i'm looking for some cloned part... i'd have to guess at bottom right... but before i knew i was looing for a clone, i'd never have clicked onto it.

i've thought of trying this but haven't gotten around to it yet [i think i will right now]. i think a warm toned print would look nice and fit well with the tree.
littlenose - yeah there are a couple repeating details that give away the cloning. i did it kind of sloppy in a matter of seconds :X
