I hope this makes sense. I'm shooting RAW with the 20D. My monitor is calibrated and the calibration profile (2 plug & play monitor) loads when I boot the computer. In PSCS do I set the following to -
Assign profile? - Adobe RGB 1998 or 2 Plug & Play Monitor?
Source Space? - Adobe RGB 1998 or 2 Plug & Play Monitor?
Print Space - Adobe RGB 1998 or 2 Plug & Play Monitor?
The color space on the camera is set to Adobe RGB
In the print with preview I assume that I check color management to set the above.
Am I making any sense?
Thanks Much
Steve

The only time "Assign profile" comes into the picture is if there is an image that doesn't have any embedded profile in it. and usually (but not always), the color space used for that image is sRGB. Therefore, you should assing sRGB to it unless you know for a fact that it's some other color space. Assigning an ARGB to an sRGB image will make the image look over saturated in color.
"Print Space" should either specify a printer profile of the paper you will be using if PSCS is going to manage the color, or "Printer Color Management" if you are going to let the printer do it. If PSCS is doing the color management, the color management for the printer itself must be set to "None". Otherwise, set it to "ICM" or "ColorSync" if using the Mac.
"Source Space" should specify whatever your image profile is.

I have found the following works best for me - others have varying opinions. I do know that I have never seen a monitor profile used for any of this - it is basically just used to tell the monitor how to present the colors to you for viewing and editing.
Assign profile - I usually assign AdobeRGB (if I know that is the correct profile) unless I am posting to the web and have converted to the sRGB color space in which case I would assign sRGB.
Source space - working space - Adobe RGB in your case
Printer space - I use the Printer Color Management option since I have not gotten into custom printer profiles - this lets the printer driver convert the file to its gamut rather than Photoshop - I think
I use a Canon 9100 printer and set quality to Fine; Dithering and turn ICM on. Using Ilford Classic Pearl or Classic Gloss I select Photo Glossy paper and get great results. Others will probably have a better understanding and advice on this - just sharing what currently works for me. Hope it helps.

In PSCS (pc version) where do I find "None"? I can't find that option in the print with preview menu.

You would specify "None" or it's equivalent for other brand printers in the printer property window. The same window where you would specify the paper type, etc.

Thank you Leo, Now I think I's really starting to see the problem, that window is not a PSCS window but it's the window that opens when ever you print. In my case the HP 5550 does not have "none" as a choice. The solution is getting clearer........I NEED A NEW PRINTER!!!!

No, the solution is to create your own printer/paper/ink profile for your printer. Even if you buy a new printer you are limited to the manufacture's ICC for their specific paper and ink. Where is the freedom!??
Anyway for cheap solution, try Profile Prism. For professional get the Gretag Display Photo. (Not the cheap Display One with the colormeter, you need a spectrophotometer).

You know, for the $$$$$, an Epson 2200 Stylus does a fab job and prints sheets up to 13x19"....or you can load a roll of 13" paper into it and make the picture as long as you like. I use the Epson for my business and am so pleased with it's performance.

I don't think creating a new profile for the paper/ink/printer combo is going to do any good if you can't tell the printer to ignore color management altogether so that PSCS can do it. Unless, of course, you can create a new driver for the printer that will incorporate the newly created printer profile so that the printer can use it to color manage the print instead of letting PSCS do it.

ah I mis-read his post. Okay, yeah without the ability to disable color management..that's useless. HP sux.

Print Space - Adobe RGB 1998 or 2 Plug & Play Monitor?
Your print space should be a profile for your printer model and driver version.

You probably need to download it, possibly from HP or the site for your printing program.
