Hi, I'm in the process of calibrating all my lenses with my recently acquired 50D. I need a new camera plate for this camera (prefer Markins) and was wondering if anyone is aware if (or when) they will be available?

Does anyone with say a 40D,5D, etc. know if the plate designed for those (or other bodies for that matter) bodies will install correctly on a 50D?

Does another manufacturer have them out on the market?

The 50D is replacing my 20D which I have a camera plate installed on, unfortunately the plate will not fit the new camera... TIA Mike

I thought I read somewhere that the 40D plate would work with the 50D. That might have been WRT the RRS L plate though as I dont really follow the Markins plates.

I don't use an L-Plate but do have the Kirk tripod plate that fit my 40D and it works perfectly on my 50D. Kirk even specifies it as the same part # for both cameras now.

Just a heads-up for clarification purposes. I contacted Markins about the correct plate and have ordered one from them.

Here is a link they sent to me for the new plate desinged specifically for the Canon 50D:

(Now it off to sell my 20D)

I believe RRS does too. So Im pretty sure the 40D and 50D are the same form factor.
