Lens and Flash Rental-some ???'s

I placed my order at lensrentals.com this morning for a Canon 70-200 F2.8 and a Canon 580EXII. They are to arrive next thurs.

I am completely and utterly new when it comes to using flashes. I will be shooting at an indoor arenacross with a Canon XSi and the above lens and also a Canon 70-300.

What are some baseline settings that could get me pointed in the right direction for using the flash. I assume that I will have to shoot full manual and that is not a problem, just need to know how to set the flash. I will not have a lot of time to read the manual, as it arrives on thurs and we leave fri for the race on sat.

I sure hope that some of this made sense and someone will reply to help out a flash using ningkcumpoop!:o:oops:

If you want to get a mod's attention you can report your own post (click the ! in the triangle at the left of a post) and ask them to move it...

You could just leave the flash on ETTL mode and it should do a pretty good job with no problems.
