I find myself wanting/needing this accesory for a lot of the shooting I do in my business as an insurance agent. I'd probably invest in this if it comes with a lens cap, as my G6 is often used without my Domke satchel when I'm out checking customer's properties, and I certainly wouldn't want to get dust and fingerprints on it.........Look at the DC58M right here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/CanonG6/Images/Accessories/WC-DC58N.jpg

It does have a lens cap basic plastic one, it just pushes on and can get a little loose after a lot of use and does not have any retaining strap if it drops off.

Thanks. I figured it must have some protection. I assume it comes in its own case/pouch. Any samples you can send me? rosmith@ns.sympatico.ca

am sorry , I never thought that's what you meant.

it's a real pleasure
I love that lens.
you'll never regret buying it for what you need (from what you say)
I bought mine in London so maybe it will come packed differently if you order it over the internet
probably not though

Those look great. I probably wouldn't being doing much more than sending images via the Web to my insurance carrier's office. However, if I could print good-quality 8x10's and 11x14's, that would be a bonus.
Thanks.

I've decided to get to know how to use the photo stitch mode; I would not use the converter that much and the few times I really need a very wide angle of view, I don't need to shoot high resolution for such applications, so the photo stitch seems to be the answer.
Thanks for all your input.

Marie,
Do you see any reduction in sharpness or clarity when using the WC-DC58N?

no, I don't think so Michael

when the shots are shown on the computer the tips of the corners sometimes are darker (it's to be expected)
but they can be cropped later
I never regretted getting the WC-DC58 for a moment.
I suppose it depends on what you want or need it for.

i use the WC-DC58N a lot for night photography, and i really like it. i haven't noticed any reduction in sharpness or contrast (though there must be some due to the extra glass). it's pretty resistant to flare, too.
the converter comes bith a soft pouch / carry bag and front and rear lens caps. if you haven't already got it, you'll need to buy the plastic adapter tube to be able to attach it to the camera.
if you want any more sample pix, have a look in my deviantart account's gallery (url in sig).
hth,
