View Full Version : Any Canon Ultra-Compacts that allow for full manual control?

Currently, I have an S30. But, unfortunately, it's a tad too big to just throw in my pocket and carry with me everywhere. I've seriously considered the SD200 as a good pocket, ultra-compact digital camera. While it does have a good many features as well as a good bit of manual control, I can't find a way to manually change the shutter speed or the aperture (looked in the manual also).

The S30 will allow me to use Av, Tv, P, or M with full control over the range of shutter speeds and aperture values available for the camera. Is there any ultra-compact that canon makes that allows full control like the S30 does?

Thanks in advance

I bought my S70 because it has every configuration of manual controls imaginable. You can use it with full manual everything (including focus), or try shutter- or aperture-priority mode, or just switch to full automatic for those times you just need to get a shot. The RAW picture format allows you to shoot without worrying about color balance, but if you prefer JPEG, there's a quick and easy-to-use color balancing control.

If the SD200 is like the SD300....which I'm almost positive it is....then you can adjust the shutter speed for up to 15seconds!

I use it all the time ;)

With the SD200/300 etc, you can adjust the shutter speed - but only for long shutter speeds (1-15 seconds). You can't control it for more 'normal' shooting (under a second)

The A70 has full manual control including the stop down meter reading (like a match needle except numbers). Unfortunately focus is still automatic.
