i rang on friday, and they said they should be posting them out that day - so i assume they should come in the mail monday? if they are coming.

i'm not sure how many they interview?

not too sound arrogant, but i'd be surprised if i did not even get an interview, how did you feel about your chances?

I heard about 35 mins ago. Very happy.

I also rang on friday about 4pm, they said they intended to send them in the morning but got dellayed, obviously a fair few people called so they sent them today.

I think i printed them off the correct size, i answered the questions correctly. Hmm I dunno. It's not the end of the world....actually it pretty much is. lol

Im actually studying at ICPP aka International college of creative arts in sth melb.
Honestly while it isnt hecs based, its a FANTASTIC course if your looking to do commercial photography.
Ive nearly completed first year with one year left after that.

I'm going to bring along 20 A3 size images plus my photography media planning book. I'm really scared haha. i can offer you some advice, as like you i took a similar interview this time last year.

basically what you really want to do is prove to them that you have every intention of going through with your studies, ie wont drop out especially for the BA course.
doesnt matter how good you are, they wont want you if your not 100% committed.

Also dont be afraid to show & tell them your weaknesses as a photographer, honestly this will help greatly as it shows the interviewer you are aware & open to criticism, but more importantly it makes them aware that you know where you are going wrong & trust me, there is no harm in that especially when your just leaving high school.

Be confident, walk in confidently, shake there hand firmly & dont be intimidated, just back yourself!

I have no real idea but i gathered it to be tear sheets from papers you have been published in etc etc (IE: Your photos in a real scenario)

Transcripts are a list of all the classes you have taken and the grades you got in each. You pay your college or high school to provide an official record of your grades that you can supply to places you are trying to get in to.

Just had my interview today at 10:00, it was funny because the whole time i was waiting in the waiting room I didn't see one male, only 7 females.
I think i did very well in the interview, they seemed to enjoy my folio work and were engaged with what I had to say.
Love to hear how everyone else went?

Both are about the same amounts hands on. Did you have 2 on the panel? can is see your folio?

I would start off living with my cousin just like 5 mins from the CBD then get an apartment, my dad would get one as he goes down like twice a week for work now anyway.

Speaking from experience; I went through the BA a couple of years ago, one of the main issues apart from talent and commitment is money. The lecturers and department heads ie Sandra want to know you realise how expensive the course is. Besides course fees, I would have put in approx $50K in equipment, film, processing, props, travel, location fees, exhibition etc etc etc over the three years. We had many people drop out, a lot simply due to the enormous cost.

Just to give a little perspective to all who are after an interview/place at RMIT. Our year from memory had 2200+ applicants. To get an interview is quite a feat in itself, to be apart of the lucky 100 or so is a privilege.

I totally agree with trex07. To get an interview is saying something in itself! Out of the thousands that applied, only 200 were interviewed and out of the 200 only 50 will be excepted. This course, no matter how good it is, shouldn't decide what you want to become in the future. If you do not get in, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be a photographer. If it is your dream you will pursue it! Because I know no matter what happens, i will be pursuing a career in photography!!

So does anyone know the exact date when we find out if we got accepted??

And there were only 600 applicants not 'Thousands' ... just a bit of an overstatement..
however this year is a drop from last years applicants, which was 800 and only 100 got interviewed, and only about 30 I herd got an offer.. this year is much better!

so much easier in Brissy just to apply at Griffith... only need an Overall Position of 5 and your in. I think that might be how they eliminate the people who are not interested in putting the time in.

I am seriously considering applying for a Masters in visual art(photography) at griffith... would be perfect to go with my current qualifications. I have to decide by Monday... hard decision... thinking of studying it part time to compliment my journalism studies. Already have a degree in interactive entertainment so being allowed to enter the course shouldnt be an issue.

Thats true, it is reasonably difficult when compared to other states, however not a bad alternative if you have good grades and have trouble getting in to RMIT. Apparently Griffith used to have a similar admission system to RMIT for photography but changed it because they would get too many people dropping out.

That and they found the admission process to stressful :lol:

I think they will be shocked this year as normaly they had about half the places to people with OP5 the rest to full fee students but there is no full fee any more!

Just received an A letter from RMIT for BA photography....I pissed my pants lol, and i think i will be choosing it as my number one preference for next year, very excited!!

I also just got a new 100mm canon lens and I highly recommend it! Anybody else hear back?

Just stumbled into this thread; so In the spirit of not letting it die, I'll add my thoughts:

Since when were there so many uni-age Melbournian's on POTN? It's surprising (in a really good way).

Well, as I didn't apply, I can't comment on how I went :) I'm already at uni doing eng: when I was thinking about preferences 3 years ago, I did not even think of photography, as it was a far off hobby ( only got my 400D last Christmas), and will stay that way - due to lack of talent/ambition).

Those who know they want be a photog for a living, and have got into a course, have my admiration, as I know I wouldn't have the courage to take that step. Good luck in your studies/photo-taking!

Some 1st year uni advice: get to know others outside your course, as the opportunity for meeting new people in class will rapidly fall because everyone doing your course will be doing the same subjects. And everything will seem new/different, so don't stress too much about work/assignments (I worried too much and now know I could have stressed a LOT less).

Yeah the A letter is different from the actual acceptance letter. Official offers come out 20th I believe.

the A letter means you get in - rmit just has to check you passed vce or whatever and pass the information onto vtac - thats what you get on the 20th of jan.

so you can accept the course then, or defer. i belive this is how it works

Really, but they've already sent me everything including the orientation letter and visa has been approve. I don't think it will e such a last minute to reject all of these.

I had a look at the equipment list and **** my pants haha. But i recently bought a 5D mkii and I'm getting a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens which will be awesome.
