What started as a hobby when I was 13 has yielded some interesting opportunities now that I'm 24. Simple nerdy coin collecting.

What's this have to do with photography? Well, image is everything in a place like eBay and so these little metallic discs need to be photographed. For instance I bought a coin for $10 and sold it for $100 once based on the photo. Luckily most people who collect coins aren't too handy with cameras so it's a niche that I've been able to exploit a bit, so far I've gotten a free trip to Greece out of it. A sample of what I do is at http://coins.formerairline.com

Anyway, I only have an A70, it's a good Camera but I need big, big close up images. Once more, I sometimes need to shoot macro with a 3x zoom in order to fully capture a piece's luster or tone etc. Sometimes I have to shoot on an angle as well which means I'll have to edit afterwards. Basically, what I'm left with is a tiny photo, made tinier from tiny coins. Would the A70 close up lens be worth it at all? Would this help? I couldn't find examples of what it can do anywhere.

The Canon 250D is a little pricey. I opted for the Hoya Close Up Set for my A70, which includes +1, +2 and +4 close up lenses. Definitely cheaper, more versatile since you have three lenses to choose from and stack. They are not quite as high a quality as the Canon 250D though. There is a website that compares all these close up lenses. http://www.lensmateonline.com/A80macrocomp.html

I would pay the extra for the quality you get from a Canon lens. You need quality for close-up shots...:)
