That's long island. You're over the ocean looking inland. The body of water on the other side of the island is long island sound. I'm guessing that the "X" is islip airport, but not sure. I'd guess you are just east of NYC, about 1/4 of the way to the Hamptons. Judging by your altitude and position, I'd guess you were flying to a city in New England, but that's really going out on a limb. You could be headed to Europe, but you're already too high to have taken off from NYC, and all Europe departures from Philly don't get that far north.

Well you guessed the location and the airport correctly.
We were headed west after departing Islip.

What are you flying? It looks like you are really high for having just departed ISP. I'm guessing from your other post taken at FL430 you are in some sort of bizjet.

I assumed wrong. I am so used to sitting on the left side (not trying to sound like a snob) that I thought you were headed eastbound. I fly over long island a couple times a week. When I have the good seat for photos over the island we're east bound.
