Between my wife's Rebel XSi kit and my newly ordered 50D outfit, we are about to have six lenses. I want to hood all of them. With the OEM Canon hoods being so pricey, I was wondering who if anyone uses the aftermarket or E-Bay lens hoods. Good value or not worth the aggravation?

i tried one sort, they were crap. (for 10-22 & 17-55). hard to get on, didnt click into place, hard to get off - even hard to put on straight in reverse when storing. they also were plain plastic inside & out - no non-reflective lining.
sent them back, spent the extra on canon ones. never had a problem since. but yes, they are ridiculously overpriced.
however, i have read a number of people in here who say they had no issues with their 3rd party ones. i guess it comes down to which ones you get.

I have generic hoods for my cheap lenses. They do the job. I have the screw-in type. Generic petal shape for certain diameters & focal lengths. Not OEM clones.
