I would like to make a plea for users who have an empty profile on this board to at least show the country where they live. There are users from all areas of the world and certain aspects of our hobby/profession are specific to the country where you live.

For example; US requirements for copyright are different from most of the rest of the world, methods of equipment insurance are not the same, equipment guarantees are different, and so on.

It at least gives readers a chance to see if they have a relevant reply to make to a posted question. I can understand that some people may not want to identify exactly where they live, but why leave out the country?

Is mine ok? :p :D :D

Actualy its a very good point.
I partake in an automotive forum quite frequently, and there is nothing worse than someone saying: "My toyota corolla sounds funny, whats wrong with it?"
And expecting everyone to know where in the world they are, and what model corolla it is.

I would also like to encourage people to add this information. If you don't want to give your location with any specificity, that's okay, but your country really is useful information, especially when reference is made to model names/numbers that vary from country to country, or when members from elsewhere in the world might have questions or comments about your locale.

As a personal note, I’ve never tried to keep my location a secret, and I’ve found that there are a couple benefits to this. First, it has given me the opportunity to meet a couple forum members who were passing through town, and it has allowed me to share information with others on conditions in my area for photographic purposes. I’ve had those discussions, not only with other Californians, but with forum members from other countries who were considering traveling to this area.

This is a worldwide forum, and to not take advantage of the international flavor that exists here is to waste a valuable resource.

It is also very beneficial when listing equipment for sell in the marketplace forum!

Yep I can agree on that. Just yesterday I met with a forum member who bought my 2x extender. Its nice to meet in person.
