I'm having trouble linking photos from pbase at the moment. I have been doing it without incident for approximately 6 months now, but all of a sudden it appears to be working intermittently. Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, what did you do?

For example, see this thread:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=58966

All the photos are linked as follows:
http://www.pbase.com/sam_blackie/image/39877163/original.jpg

Thanks,

ssim

Pbase is having it's problems as of late. They have done a major server upgrade and it didn't go so well. Their customer service is pretty much non existant.

After the upgrade there were alot of people that had to reload some of their images (including yours truly). Alot of the thumbnails had to be regenerated as well. This took forever as the only way to do it (that I could find) is each one individually.

Are you using the "[img]" tags properly when posting here? I'm assuming you are if you had no problems previously.

In the link you provided here the last one has im...3 in it. You need to have the whole name for this part.

I have posted questions on pbase's own forum board. You'll get answer from other users but don't expect to see anything from the owners of it.

Thanks,

I had a lot of trouble too
some of my pictures on Pbase still have X's showing
but when I click on them they appear ok

I sent a message and received this reply after sometime
hope it helps

We have had some problems with failed disks lately, which may be the cause
of some of your broken images. We are working to fix these problems, but
it is a very slow process. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

This may be the problem with direct linking as well, but you could be
using the wrong direct linking URL. To get the correct direct linking
URL, view the image on PBase. The URL will look something like
http://www.pbase.com/image/ (http://www.pbase.com/image/)##### To get the direct linking syntax, just
add .jpg or /medium.jpg to the end of that URL.

ex: http://www.pbase.com/image/23547405/small.jpg (http://www.pbase.com/image/23547405/small.jpg)

You must do it this way. Getting the URL by right clicking on the image
and viewing the properties will only work temporarily.

Thanks.

Thanks all, I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for them to fix it.
