The weather finally got nice enough to get outside and shot some photos. Yesterday was the first time I used the 100 - 400 for a "sporting event". I'm pleased.

That's an excellent action shot! It's the kind of shot that you almost have to pre focus on the base and anticipate the play there. Personally I'd like it a bit better if you would have zoomed out or cropped it a bit looser so that I see the face of the defensive player too. However, if he was called safe I bet the base runner likes it the way it is ;) .

Do you know what aperture it was shot at? It seems a bit soft. My 100-400 is soft wide open... but adding a little contrast in PS would fix the shot. A lot of the dust from the slide is probably the biggest reason it looks soft. :lol:

Ya, my sweet spot is around 7.1... but regardless of that, your timing on this shot is perfect, and DOF too. Great job.
