ok... i am sharing a studio space now w/ 2 other friend / photographers of mine - 600 square feet - 15' ceilings, tons of fun. we spent all day cleaning the place, getting loose paint off the walls and bleaching the floors, finished up today.
we each ordered an alien bee 800 strobe, so we can share and have a 3 light setup.
the 2 shots below were done in less then 5 minutes of having the strobes out of boxes and setup. the first shot had 3 strobes, just pointed at the guy (one of the people im sharing studio w/) - me in the middle, one to the right and left at differant heights, the 3rd strobe was up about 8' in the air and pointed towards the ceiling, set to a little under 1/2 power - basicly using the white ceiling as a softbox. the 2 facing keith did not have umbrella's or anything else on the, power if i remember was between 1/16th and 1/8th
my camera was set to "K" white balance and i adjusted the temp to 5500k which is what the strobes are. settings were 1/125 @ f/11. this wasnt about posing, this was about the ability to control and elimnate shadows, espcially w/ someone so close to the walls.
the colors are also a little flat, i may try shooting @ 5600 or 5800k, and these images have NO adjustments out of camera, shot, resized, logo'd and uploaded to the web.

the shot below is a very similar setup, one strobe at the ceiling, one to my left about 5' off the ground aiming down, but the one to my right was close to the wall then me, had a 45" silver w/ black back umbrella on it and was slightly under powered, as you can see by the shadows. the shadows tell me that the strobe to my left w/ no umbrella on it was a bit too hot and / or the strobe into the umbrella was a lil too weak.

hope you like - expect to see LOTS more out of me now that we have this studio space
