Hey guys,

So i had a couple of models in a couple of weeks ago for the day. They had hired me to shoot them wearing a new clothing line they put together in my home studio.

Now i was paid for the work i did however like any time i know people are going to be in the studio i had a fruit and sandwitch try done up mostly because i get the munchies waiting during out fit changes.. and some pop/water.

When the girls came in and at there first change i pulled the food out they almost feel off there heels saying that its the first time they have ever been to a shoot where the photographer offered up food and drinks. One of the girls said she was a pretty active model and she allways brings water and protien gel packs with her everywhere cause you hardly ever get close to food or drinks.

Here i am offering them the foods and suggesting we take the breaks my concern is allways they are going to get dehydrated or hugry and not say something and then pass out or something stupid on me.

Does anyone else do this?

What a bizarre post. Pass out from being hungry and dehydrated? They're just trying on clothes, not running a marathon across the Sahara. But it looks like the models appreciated it, so go for it.....

Well i am not sure about it being bizzar, however i am kind of bored at work.

While this paticular shoot might not require the water, i was watching a shoot last summer in 80 degree weather a bunch of girls running around changing outfits in an outside make shift change room in the dead heat for almost 9 hours and not once did i see anyone over them anything and yes we did witness one girl colapse.

whether they really need it or not i think it's a good gesture and it'll always look good on your part, if it's not something they see a lot or at all they'll remember you for it.. a little goes a long way..

i just might remember that one for the future! :)

Apparently you haven't seen some of those skinny models that look like they haven't eaten in a month.:p

I think it's a thoughtful gesture.:)

Usually, if a customer (or model or art director or...) comes over to the studio, the studio provides food & drink in my experience...

Michael, Thank you for posting this. I honestly never thought to offer te models food or beverage. From now on I will do just that!

I offer, but have never had it laid out and ready for them like that.

yea i find that many wont take when offered cause they feel they are putting you out. When they show up and find food just sitting there and then are offered they don't feel the same way :D

Ideally i only pull it out cause i love to snack... But i do love to share :D

But i do love to share :DI'd think some will be thinking about how their stomach will look in that latest swimsuit after they've eaten that Big Mac too. If they feel like they're marginal on physique they may not want to add anything extra for the shoot. Not all will think that I'm sure, but I'd bet money that many will think like that at least some of the time.

Oh i have had girls make comments about the adding of weight, and i have had others freak thinking i was saying they where too skinny..

However usually after 4-6 hours of my hot lights and running around they always seem to end up eating all my dam pineapple :D

Heck when I have motorcyclists over to my shop to learn various maintenance items on their bikes like valve adjusts and such I always have coffee, soft drinks, pastries in the morning and smoked salmon, cheese and grapes in the afternoon. It all comes out of their fees so I suppose I could feed a model too, but I doubt I will unless she spends 6 hours here and gets grease under her nails.

That's standard in the film industry, & most studios here put out refreshments too. While it's usually a courtesy for the client(s) on the set, everyone is welcome to share it.

With paying clients I always have fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (I make up huge batches of dough on the weekends and freeze cookie dough balls. Just before the shoot, I or my assistant pops about 10 in the oven. If they don't finish them (they never do), I send them home with the cookies. That's a little tip I learned from Sandy Puc at one of her seminars. I also have other refreshments.

For models, I usually call and ask what they like to drink. Ninety percent say water (which is what I expect), but they're always impressed that I ask (I also remind them that I asked). I offer the other standard drinks I keep on hand as well.

I keep fresh fruit ready. Sometimes if I'm in the mood, I'll have pastries for both paying clients and TF* models.

Does 80 degrees actually qualify as hot? I'd go for more pleasantly warm. :) Doesn't count as hot until you break triple digits.

I always take my models to dinner and hit on them afterwards. Standard Operating Procedure in Porntopia.

We always have food on shoots. We usually have snacks, breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. We usually have baked goods in the morning and sandwiches in the afternoon.

lolwtf, I used to have an alarm clock which incorporated a variety of features including thermometer. In the heat waves a few years back, I recorded temps of 31 degrees C inside, 40+ during the day. **** was intense, thankfully I have a pool, which was used liberally during that summer.
