Earlier this year there was a couple of discussions on the merit (and cost) of IS v Non IS, especially on the 70-200 Lens.
I watched and waited till I had the chance to try out my new 70-200 IS Lens, the opportunity came when I went home to New Zealand in February and went whale watching and swimming with dolphins.

My verdict:
I am glad I purchased the lens with IS, I believed it helped me capture some great moments, whilst the boat was rocking from side to side and up and down.

I did feel sorry for a lot of people with Point and Shoot digitals, the common complaint from then was shutter lag -they were missing a lot of shots.
A few green eyes on the boat as they looked at my 10D and the big white lens.:lol:
