This is my first attempt to take nude photos. The studio was actually my sofa (as I didn't have a suitable background) which is dark blue hence the tight crops as I wanted to avoid distracting backgrounds. The lighting was from a single interfit cyberflash 300 about 6 feet high (on my left) as I wanted to create sharp shadows for an artistic effect.
All the photos were taken in raw format and processed using Photoshop CS where I desaturated some to black and white and some to create a pale look. I used a Canon 20D with a 17-40L f4 lens. All shots were manually exposed taken a 1/60th sec ISO 100 various fstops.
Any feedback is welcomed. Otherwise enjoy the gallery.
UPDATE: 6th March 2005. Thanks for all your feedback which is very much appreciated. I've decided to delete the gallery and will publish another one soon.

I personally like them, i'm very big on composition more then anything and to me the composition was great. The B&W were my favorite, as I do tend to favor them. But I'd love to see more of your work. Let it be Nude Or Other.

I liked the poses and lighting but the models skin was terrible or at least it showed terrible. No offence to her or you, but either its just bad, or magazines are doing allot of touch ups to make models skin look perfect. Most "home nudes" I see have this. The legs show the mottling (purple blotches). Other wise good stuff

Thanks for the feedback. Infact, the model insisted I didn't touch up the photos hence you will see a big bruise on the model's knee in IMG_0881.jpg. She felt it was 'real'. I thought i'd just leave it. Also, I think the harsh lighting probably didn't help too much and quite possibly highlighted any skin blemishes. I could have made the photos softer and touched them up but thought I'd post 'as is' to gauge reaction.

One day, when I have time I might just hire a real studio. :-) Then I'll be sure to post some more examples. thx. My favourite is actually IMG_0865.jpg which is not a nude!

Yea, the skin was imperfect, and yes alot of magazines are doing touchups to make it looks "perfect". But thats not how everyone is thankfully. Thats one of the reasons i liked them also was because they weren't perfect. It gets very old looking at women with pounds of makeup on and airbrush artists spending hours touching them up. It's nice to see the imperfections in people, that whether we admit or not, we sometimes come to love, especially in our lovers. Thats one of the great things about love, you come to love the imperfections in the other person. Even tho this make have nothing to do with these photographs, Imperfections are Beautiful. Great work Raztazor. Can't wait to see more.

These are well composed and generally well executed. Lighting is strong but does reveal flaws more clearly. Please do and post more.

The reaction from my point of view is twofold:
1. From a composition standpoint, I think they are exceptional. The lighting was effective...dramatic. Of all the images, I liked the least nude photo; the one with the shoes.
2. The images showcase a model who is real. We'd all love to know, photograph, be with women like those Charlesu favors us with. The reality is our women, like ourselves, are flawed, whether it is mottled skin, softer flesh, or other imperfections.
Thanks for posting. Tell your model she did good too 8-)
