I confess, I have no idea what "double take" is, means. Has it something to do with a surprise,maybe?

"double take
n.

A delayed reaction to an unusual remark or circumstance, often used as a comic device."

Pretty much it means when you look at something, look away, then you have to look again because it takes you by surprise or is worth another look but you didn't realize it until later.

Example: "Did you see how hot that girl was? I did a double take."

Thank you, I looked it up in a Dutch-English dictionary, but it probably was not a good dictionary(?)
