This guy is nuts. Well actually he probably knows what he is doing and I did enjoy the page. I'd never take my 70-200 apart. I'd send it back to Canon for repairs.

I can't imagine, wouldn't it suck to get the lens back together only to find a nasty piece of dust inside the lens :D That's cruel to say.

The only way I would autopsy a lens is if Canon returned it to me as dead and unrepairable.

Take it completely to pieces then return the bits to Canon and see if they can put it back together ;)

Very useful, but compare the value of 2 items, L certainly adds a big jaw-dropping factor :D

Yeah and I'm not sure that is the correct type of hammer to use. You should probably read up a little more before you go ahead and start work. A claw hammer will make getting the lens elements out much easier.

You inspired me, so I just disassembled mine and put in back together in 7.6 minutes, blindfolded. I'm going to try it again in a few minutes, using only my left hand. :lol:
