I don't think it could get any further south from you - it was around Bournemouth!

This site might be of use for the British Rally calendar ... http://www.motorsport.co.uk/index.cfm

Hi Andy, great shots! It was a good day, thanks for your company. Still, let's hope next time we meet up it's at a nice warm, dry ,sunny race track as opposed to wandering around up to our ankles in freezing water in a dark, cold, boggy forest ;)

Some of my efforts, taken with an EOS 1D Mark II and Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L, Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8EX and Canon EF 85mm f/1.8.

Cold & Soggy, it was practically the height of summer compared to what is was like when I left home;) What stages did you make it too?

What a brilliant event this was, approx 25 WRC cars competing (thats probably more than you would see on a WRC round:evil: ) and well worth the 750 mile round trip.

sGu there is a motorsport calendar on my website which has quite a few motorsport events listed http://www.ianhardy.net/calender.php

Anyway here are a few of my photos from the event

 We all know "'tis grim up north" :p

We didn't quite make the stages we had intended to since Mr Plod turned us away from the Wareham Main car park  and we had to change our plans. Anyway, we ended up doing stages 5, 10 and 14.

Incredible!

Those are all wonderful shots with great DOF control that make the cars appear 3-dimensional.

I just adore that Escort

Best regards,
Andy

Springbok - Great pics

Ian - we're used to a warmer climate down here in the sunny south ;) It looks like #32 is just about to run you over

Sorry Glenn, your secrets out ;)

Jetmech1 - the marsh/bog wasn't mentioned in the advertising - and I managed to pick up a stone chip on my 70-200 - luckily it was just the paint on the barrel.

jaypie77 - that Hyundai went on to win the event.

Looks like my pics are a bit on the cool side compared to everyone else - time to play with the WB so more ...

Ag you are getting hang of those low-down shots. Cadwell is getting too soft for such acrobatics, must be the Recaros, too much comfort.

Who was in the driving seat of my mate's Hyundai? Not being a rally man I don't keep an eye on such things. Only three weeks to some circuit racing, ah.... my season starts.

Ken - it was David Higgins in the Hyundai, and he won the event to boot!

Cheers,

Simon.

Cheers Kenny, but it was more a case of being pinned to the floor by the sigma

Great shots.

It scares me to see people out on the track like that. I was watching a show the other week about car accidents, and it showed one of photographers getting run over by a out of control car. It was the same type of track as that one, so just be careful out there. Anything can happen.

anybody here ever seen "too fast to race" ? and no i'm not talking about the stupid street racing videos in the US. It's a great movie about rally cars in europe and class B monsters.

I was mostly cringing behind some solid trees on the outside of corners, but was pretty exposed on the straights

Yup, there was a spectator pinned to a tree by a Mitsubishi Evo at the Wyedean Rally two weeks ago. That's why all race tickets have little "Warning Motorsport Can Be Dangerous" signs on them. You can minimise the risks to yourself by being sensible... but it is always possible that the unexpected can happen.

Guys

Some of those pics are superb! Just the sort of thing I want to be taking soon.

I have done some Rallying shots in the past but only on my film SLR then scanned. They can be seen here (http://www.evoposters.net/carsb/Jim-Clark-Rally-2002) if you want to take a look and let me know what you think. They were taken with an EOS 600 and a 80-200 USM lense then scanned at a fairly low res to take up little space.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Hoping to get some much better stuff this year with my 300D and (hopefully) some news lenses

Hi Ken, are you going to Oulton park on the 3rd April for the F3/GT ?

I'm going with my son (he's nine and has just got a 2nd hand n***n coolpix 2000 :-) ) for the sunday races.

Do you reccomend any good spots to shoot from ? I'll be taking my 100-400.

Cheers.

Gary.
