Wow, he definitely looks like he is enjoying himself, which is great. You definitely have some good shots there, but too bad a couple of them overexposed his face a little. I know how hard this poor gym lighting is to shoot in though.

The lighting conditions in the gym id very bad. I noticed the overexposer also. What can I do about that in those lighting conditions? I never have tried to shot RAW yet and ajusting exposer in Photoshop.

Did you shoot these in RAW, or do you mean you never shot RAW at all? I always shoot RAW indoors for this very reason. The lighting is horrible so RAW makes it much easier to adjust exposure and white balance, and to control the high ISO noise a little better, which can get worse if you shoot JPEG, edit, and then save the JPEG again.

I only shot kids basketball twice so far. It's definitely a challenge without a flash. I got a handful of decent shots from this game, which also had a really poorly lit gym so I was surprised to get any good ones.

The only little bit of advice I can give you is, shoot RAW, crank up the ISO, and open the aperture all the way to f/1.8 on your 85mm.

I have never shot RAW. Need to learn about it. I used ISO 1600 and 1.8 on the aperture for these shots. Thanks for the INFO.
