I have calibrated my Apple Cinema Display with the Spyder2. I have a one of the new aluminum ACD's and run it on a Windows XP machine with CS. Anyone who uses a Apple display with a Windows machine, which white point do you choose? Is it correct to choose the Windows default of 2.2- Native or is it correct to choose 1.8 - Native, the Apple default.

I set my white point to 2.2- Native when I have calibrated my monitor the last 2 times.

The options in Spyder2 are :
1.8 - 5000
1.8 - 6500
1.8 - Native
2.2 - 5000
2.2 - 6500
2.2 - Native

I know it is best to use the native white point, but what is it?

1.8, or 2.2 and what temperature 5000, 6500?

That is the problem?

The Apple tech specs do not list it

I can't choose the right one, if I don't know what it is.

Thanks for your help

Gamma 2.2 and K=6500 are standard for Windows photo editing. Some use K=5000.

I don't use Apple displays. Someone who does can tell us whether they use 1.8 or 2.2 gamma for photo image editing.

If you don't use Gamma 2.2, your images will not look right to 95% of the masses.

Strange world that we can't agree on something as basic as Gamma.

I have the Apple Cinema Display but it's attached to a Mac instead of a PC. I use SpyderPro (not Spyder2) to calibrate it. I have gamma set to 2.2 and whitepoint set to native which seems to be K=6500.

I have 2 previous 23" Apple Cinema Display, one with G5 and the other with Win XP. Both of them set with Spyder2 Pro in auto setting (just let the Spyder 2 Pro run automatically).
